RULES

SUBMISSIONS

You are entitled to a maximum amount of two entries per edition and the entry will be considered eligible in the next edition only if the film was not awarded in the previous one. The Bucharest ShortCut Trophy comes only with the BEST PICTURE Award and AUDIENCE Award - Winners won't be able to show off their beautiful film in the next 12 months.

 

FILMS

Keep in mind that we can only accept short films. Meaning that the up to 35 minutes length of any genre and format is allowed. 

To make it easy for the worldwide submissions, we set the regular entry fee at only $14.99.

 

Every movie must have been released during or after 2010 and must come with English subtitles (with an exception for music videos and movies where English is the main language spoken). Any genre and format is accepted (from 1 minute films to long, narrative/artistic short films).

 

Film duration should not exceed: 35 minutes for Short Films, 15 minutes for Web-Shorts, 6 minutes for Music Videos, 3 minutes for Trailers. 

 

In order to consider an Award Category elegible, we require an amount of minimum 5 official selections per category.

 

All genres and formats are considered to be eligible for a nomination or to win one or more of these categories.

 

Great quality is a standard. Films with a poor production standard (lack of sound quality, absence of subtitles/captions for non-English films, video resolution less than 720p HD) will not be accepted.

 

The winners of each category will get our official printable AWARD CERTIFICATE.

 

The ‘BEST PICTURE’ Winner will be awarded with our BSCFest TROPHY and a Professional Review from our Jury Board.

 

The final race for the ‘BEST PICTURE’ Award will consist in 6 Nominations, while the ‘Category’/’Individual’ awards will have 3 nominations per category.

Only films selected in the Competition will be showcased in the BscFest Official Screenings. 

The AUDIENCE AWARD will also receive our BSCFest AWARD - The Winner will be decided entirely by the public during the Official Screenings - the film with the highest amount of votes will be announced as the winner.

When submitting a film, we require the film to be embedded on our online platform, so keep in mind that it must be provided in order to be eligible for an official selection.

 

All entries must be available for screening during the festival.  

If your film is chosen to be screened at the Bucharest ShortCut CineFest, we require a download link to your submission or you must send a full quality DCP file/35mm/Blu-ray/DVD no later than 1 week prior to the festival screening.

DISCLAIMER & RIGHTS

By submitting your film to our festival you agree that your piece of work  can be embeded on our website. The filmmaker/institution that is submitting the film must own the rights to do so and is responsible for the content they are providing. By submitting, the filmmaker allows Bucharest ShortCut Cinefest to create a page for their film without infringing copyright of any kind of form.

If your film won't get an Official Selection, the entry fee won't be refunded.

 

 

The Process:

If your film will be officialy selected in our festival, it will be uploaded/embeded on our website for everyone to see. Winning films will be highlighted and promoted within the platform.

 

Festival does not deal with any copyright issues. All copyright issues should be resolved by the film authors. 
Filmmakers and screenwriters retain 100% all of the rights to their projects and materials that they submit to the Bucharest ShortCut CineFest. 
You agree to indemnify and hold harmless us, our officers, affiliates, employees, and partners from any and all claims and liability arising out of entering or transmitting your film to the Bucharest ShortCut CineFest.

 

All PROMOTIONAL reviews will be published on our official website and through our social media platforms. You can also request the removal of your PROMOTIONAL review by the end of the quarter festival competition.

 

The screenplay competition runs once every 2 months and will be available exclusively through FilmFreeway. Filmmakers can enter their screenplay (of any genre, up to 120 pages) to the competition by also requesting a promotional review at the price of $49.99. They will not be published on any public channel. Screenplay reviews will be delivered by our team within 7-12 days. The entry fee for those who just want to enter the competition starts at only $19.99. There will be quarter finalists, semifinalists and finalists out of which a winner, a runner-up and a second runner-up will be designated. Only two screenplays per filmmaker per edition are allowed and only one screenplay be entitled with the ‘Screenplay Award’. The winner will receive a cash prize of which amount will depend on the number of entries and our BSCFest trophy which will be sent via mail/post.

ANNOUNCEMENTS

On May 20th 2016, Bucharest ShortCut CineFest will announce the nominations for every category. Winners will be after the May 25th Official Screening - ‘BEST PICTURE’ and 'AUDIENCE AWARD will receive the Bucharest ShortCut Trophy!

 

Winners, nominees and unsuccessful films can be deleted from the website in the next festival competition quarter if the owner decides to proceed with this option.

 

LAURELS

Filmmakers are allowed to use Bucharest ShortCut Cinefest laurels on their winning/nominated/selected films ONLY. They can be used on posters as well as on other media available. The OFFICIAL SELECTION transparent laurel can be found below (click for full image). Other laurels can be provided upon request.
